MANILA, Philippines — The Catholic Bishops’ Convention of the Philippines (CBCP) stated that discussing socio-political points in homilies is ok as there’s a have to put morality in these issues.

CBCP public affairs committee govt secretary Fr. Jerome Secillano stated Wednesday that spiritual leaders are talking the church’s coverage when doing their homilies.

“We converse of the coverage of the common Catholic Church,” he stated on ABS-CBN Information Channel’s Headstart.

“Whereas there could also be folks, there could also be monks who would truly sort out socio-political points of their homilies, it’s simply tremendous as a result of we have to put morality in these points,” he went on.

Earlier, the CBCP stated {that a} good Christian will vote for a frontrunner who will uphold the true spirit of the Folks Energy Revolution which restored the nation’s democracy.

CBCP stated that their assertion is not being partisan.

“That’s not being partisan as a result of… we have to put morality in context. We have to put morality in our society. We have to put morality even in politics. If I could name it, it’s all about evangelization of politics,” stated Secillano.

The priest stated that it’s mandatory to remind people of the atrocities of martial law to keep away from going again to a time when rights and freedom are suppressed.

“We now have to take a look at it from the perspective of restoring democracy and never solely restoring democracy but in addition from the perspective of a dictatorship that truly suppressed all our rights and freedoms and we don’t want to go back to such kind of scenario,” Secillano stated.

“So, I believe it’s merited that we remind folks of these items as a result of I suppose if we’re not going to remind folks of all these items, we’re simply going to return to the place we had been earlier than,” he added.
